Work Hours

My work hours are 9-5 with a 1 hour lunch. I usually get in at about 8:45 and leave at 4:55 and I either don't take lunch or take 15-30 minutes max.

So today I get in and there's an email (I wasn't singled out) saying the everyone is REQUIRED to be here until exactly 5 and later if needed.

Now this pissed me off. I don't get paid by the hour and I am not eligible for overtime.

I know, it may seem to be ridiculous to be upset about 5 minutes, but let's run down the effects of this 5 minutes.

In 5 minutes I miss the path train back to jersey. By missing that train, I miss the 5:15 bus to my home.

That 5 minutes changes my commute from 35 minutes to 65 minutes.

Seems rather stingy to me, all I know is that from now on i won't be starting early and I will be taking complete lunch hours.
